If you’re a Portland soccer fan, you know her as a capo for the Portland Timbers and the Rose City Riveters.


If you’re a fiber or metal artist, you know her as the creative force behind kNiTpUnK, a maker of custom fiber pieces and metalwork.


But if you’re a veteran of the Rose City Yarn Crawl, you know her by her hair: She’s the woman who dyes her hair to match her handknits.

Portland artist Sunday White is something of a legend on the Crawl. She’s a gifted crafter who comes from a family of lacemakers, woodworkers, spinners, cooks, photographers and writers. She does a lot of things very well, but when it comes to the Crawl, her creativity and love of color simply can’t be contained by her handiwork — it has to — has to — move to her hair.
